Age caught up to Diamondbacks, as injuries and ineffectiveness added up to the worst season in franchise history. Bob Brenly was fired as manager half-way through the season replaced by Al Pedrique on an interim basis. Playing ability aside, the team looked no different from the previous season, at least during the regular season. New batting practice jerseys and hats were rolled out for Spring Training, though the differences were subtle.
